Here is a blog post from my Junior year of high school. Apparently, I was WAY ahead of my time....
(just change John Legend to Esperanza Spalding and Mariah Carey to Lady Gaga)
So I was reading about the Grammys the other day and laughed. I read that it was the lowest rated Grammys in the past 20 years. Ha ha. I know that I didn't watch it. But after reading that little fact, I had to see what the problem was. So I turned on the tube, and watched. Of course many channels were re-airing them. I bet they thought that if the people didn't watch the first time or the second time they aired, they must want to watch them the third or fourth time they aired, right? Wrong. Word to the wise TV people out there, if the worlds population doesn't watch the Grammy's the first time, they probably won't watch them ever. So play something worth while, like Arrested Development. Anyway, I kind of got off subject, my question is, why didn't people watch the Grammys?
Well I can't tell you why every person didn't watch because there are some who did, but I can tell why I and the majority of the population didn't watch.
Now I am sure there are a few people how kicked themselves and said, " The Grammy's were on? Why the heck didn't my TiVo work?" But for me and the overall world, we didn't want to watch because of the freaking posers, oops I mean musical celebrities. Ok that might have been a little harsh. There probably was, somewhere hidden in a corner, a group of musicians that were there to celebrate music, and not show off their half naked bodies or the girls flanked over each arm. I am almost positive that there were some that were not completely wasted and were not making fools of themselves. And so help me, I know for a fact that there were musicians there who could actually sing without a backup track playing and producers altering their voices on a little machine behind a huge glass window. I am just sure of it.
All of the songs that were nominated, were way over played. I know that if I heard any of those songs again, I would have to take whatever was playing it and beat it to a bloody pulp. Except maybe John Legend. Not many people know about John Legend. Heck I even have to do my research about John Legend. So by the time the Grammys rolled around, a lot of people were sick of the songs that were going to be played all night long. I know that I couldn't sit through another Mariah Carey song. She has like 18 playing on the radio, and there really isn't any proof that they actually are different from each other. But investigations are still going on.
All in all maybe they should just have a mini Grammy show ever other week. That is usually how long the songs are popular for. And maybe if they do that the rating will go up because chances are somebody will turn on there TV, leave the house and forget it is on, and the Grammys will turn on and up goes the ratings. Ha Ha. I make myself laugh.
thank you and goodnight
